  • Neighbors: Romania is situated in South-East Europe. It has as neighbors a: Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova (to the East and North), Hungary (to the West and Northwest), Serbia (to the Southwest) and Bulgaria (to the South)
  • Population: 21.733.556 inhabitants, of which 89% are Romanians. The largest ethnic minorities are the Magyars and Székelys (7.1%) and the Roma (1.7%).
  • Religion: Christian orthodox majority (86,8 % of the population). Other religions: catholic (5 %), Greek catholic (1 %), Protestants (3,5 %).
  • The capital: the city of Bucharest (2.064.000 inhabitants), city attested first time in 1459.
